A company focused on creating jewelry and cosmetics for a multiethnic audience. Roger Oddone Design Studio was given the challenge of translating the brand’s mission — to allow customers to express their original beauty — into a compelling visual identity. Refinement, sensuality and sophistication were the key words for this job.

Inspiration

During our visual research, we noticed interesting patterns among traditional handcrafted African fabric and jewels. Some of these patterns had shape similarities to the letter “E”, and we were inspired by them to design Ethnique’s symbol.

Picture a beautiful sunset in an African savannah. This is where we picked the symbol’s color palette from. It reflects Ethnique’s emphasis on natural beauty and, like the originality of the brand’s target demographic, makes the symbol stand bold and strong against a multitude of backgrounds.
